In May of 2021, we moved to High Banks Resort. During our first year at High Banks we have already learned so much and met so many great people. Evan has always dreamed of owning his own resort and has worked on Lake Winnie since he was 15 years old. We even met at a nearby resort while Evan was bartending and Tali was working the lodge. We officially became the owners of High Banks Resort in May of 2022, and we feel so honored to call High Banks our new home. We look forward to getting to know all of the people who help make this place so special.

Historic Lodge
The historic lodge originating in 1929 brims with northwoods charm and character. Gift shop, arcade, restaurant and cocktail bar are a few of the popular amenities. Also boasting a beautiful handcrafted stone gas fireplace, perfect for gathering with friends and family.
Record Fishing!
Yes, High Banks is home of the now 2nd place state record 54lb. 0oz. muskie (with a length of 56 inches and a girth of 27.8 inches), caught by Art Lions in 1957! The record was just broken in 2021 on Mille Lacs Lake.
High Banks Resort History
Since opening back in 1929 under the ownership of Mr. & Mrs. Ingwald Nelson (who owned the resort until 1947), High Banks has been providing relaxing and fun vacations on Lake Winnibigoshish ("Winnie") for the camping, fishing and outdoors enthusiasts as well as families looking for a relaxing getaway.
As printed in the original High Banks Resort Brochure:
“The roomy comfortable cabins of real log and siding construction, set among the pines and birches overlooking the lake, win instant approval. They are new, tight and well built some with glazed porches and all tightly screened and comfortable regardless of weather. Several have split rock fireplaces…..all are completely equipped for housekeeping including linens, necessary cooking utensils, ice and fuel and electric lights. Colorful resort stationary supplied on request. You’ll certainly want to write home about these northwoods cabins! The main lodge, picture on the front cover, well kept and homelike, offers, clean attractive rooms, with restful beds with innerspring mattresses. Cool and airy in the summer, with awnings at the windows and a large screened porch. Electric Lighted. A supply store on the grounds provides groceries, beer, soft drinks, fishing tackle, licenses, etc. Gas and oil for your car. Come anticipating a care-free vacation, with the assurance we will do everything possible to see that you have a wonderful time”
