May 12, 2008 - 2008 Fishing Opener Reports!! Opening day on Saturday brought many fisherman to the north end of the lake!! (The south side still has ice in areas.) With weather being less than desirable, cold temps, snow, wind and rain made for some challenging conditions. The gap was a popular spot to hit. Many groups finding 19"-24" walleyes very plentiful and the under 17" size were not so cooperative. Sunday brought better weather and boats were stacked out in front of High Banks. Stronger reports were coming in with 1/2 - 2/3 limits of keeper size walleyes. 1/8 oz jig with a shiner was the choice presentation in 10-14' of water.
